A light milk dessert built on four basic ingredients, sweetened without sugar. It has a soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture, and the browned top gives it a flavor close to Turkish milk halva. A nice small treat to go with tea.

Method

  1. Put the milk, sweetener, cornstarch and egg yolks into a saucepan while everything is still cold.

  2. Whisk until completely smooth with no lumps.

  3. Set the pan over low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens like a pudding.

  4. Pour the thickened mixture into a dish and smooth the top.

  5. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 3 hours.

  6. Sprinkle with cinnamon if you like.

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 15–20 minutes, until the top browns; in an air fryer, 15 minutes at 160 °C is enough.

  8. Let it cool, cut into four pieces and serve.

Tips

  • Mixing everything thoroughly before heating prevents lumps, since the starch sets quickly once hot.
  • A little cinnamon brings it even closer to the taste of Bursa-style milk halva.
  • In the video, a strawberry version made with two scoops of strawberry-flavored powdered sweetener was the favorite.
