A thick, no-bake pudding made from nothing but pears and dark chocolate. It tastes good, but the large amount of chocolate makes it high in sugar and fat. Not suited to dieting or weight control; best as an occasional treat in small portions.

Method

  1. Poach the pears in boiling water until soft.

  2. Drain them thoroughly.

  3. Melt the dark chocolate over a water bath.

  4. Put the poached pears and melted chocolate in a blender.

  5. Blend until completely smooth.

  6. Pour the mixture into a serving dish.

  7. Chill for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight.

  • To cut the sugar and fat, use less chocolate; in the video a small portion was made with much less sugar-free dark chocolate.

Is pear pudding diet-friendly?

No. The full recipe has about 1785 kcal with a lot of sugar and fat, so it doesn't suit fitness, insulin resistance or weight-control goals.

At least 6 hours; an overnight rest in the fridge gives a better texture and taste.
