An experimental cake born from viewer suggestions, mixing sweet and savory ingredients. It looks like an ordinary chocolate cake, but the pickle flavor comes through clearly. Not a healthy or high-protein recipe, just a curiosity to try for fun.
Method
Preheat the oven to 170 °C and grease or line a cake pan.
Mash the boiled potatoes in a deep bowl until smooth.
Stir the grated cheese into the warm mash so it melts.
In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with a mixer until frothy.
Add the oil to the egg mixture, then slowly add the slightly cooled potato mixture and mix until smooth.
Sift in the flour and baking powder, add the salt and pepper, and fold gently with a spatula.
Add the chopped gherkins and half the chocolate, stirring so they spread evenly.
Pour the batter into the pan and scatter the remaining chocolate on top.
Bake for about 35–40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let it cool a little before slicing.
Tips
- Let the potato mixture cool a bit before adding it to the eggs, or the eggs will start to cook.
FAQ
What does this cake taste like?
It looks good, but the pickle flavor doesn't suit a cake; it would have been better without it.
